The Lion of Judah
What Does It Mean?
The majestic lion is the symbol of the Hebrew tribe of Judah.  The tribe of Judah was descendant from the 4th son of the patriarch Israel(Jacob).

Gen 49:8  "Judah, you are he whom your brothers shall praise; Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; Your father's children shall bow down before you.
Gen 49:9  Judah is a lion's whelp; From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion; And as a lion, who shall rouse him?
Gen 49:10  The scepter shall not depart from Judah, Nor a lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh comes; And to Him shall be the obedience of the people.
Gen 49:11  Binding his donkey to the vine, And his donkey's colt to the choice vine, He washed his garments in wine, And his clothes in the blood of grapes.
Gen 49:12  His eyes are darker than wine, And his teeth whiter than milk.

From the tribe of Judah, come both King David, Israels greatest King and Yeshua (Jesus) Christ, the soon coming King of Kings.  One of the more famous names of Yeshua is "The Lion of the Tribe of Judah" (Revelation 5:5).

One other note of interest -- The symbol of the lion can also be found in the stars in the form of the constellation of Leo.  The Lion's portrait in the stars is a testament to the majesty of Yahweh God, as Leo, part of the 12 great constellations in the heavens.  It is  actually a fortelling of the coming of Yeshua Christ as King of Kings.  For more detailed information, check out E.W.
